Toyota Australia recalls 791 Prius vehicles

TOYOTA AUSTRALIA TO RECALL 791 VEHICLES

TOYOTA AUSTRALIA TO RECALL VEHICLES DUE TO POTENTIAL ENGINE WIRE HARNESS MALFUNCTION

Toyota Australia has initiated a safety recall on 791 Prius vehicles produced from November 2015 to May 2018.

This recall is due to a condition affecting the engine wire harness.

There is a possibility that a portion of the wire harness could come into contact with the Power Control Unit connector cover and wear over time, causing an electrical short circuit.

If sufficient heat is generated, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire.

Toyota Australia will shortly contact all affected vehicle owners advising them details of this recall campaign so they can make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer.

Toyota dealers will inspect the engine wire harness and, where appropriate, add protection material, which will take approximately 30 minutes.

Should engine wire harness damage be identified during inspection, the wire harness will be replaced, which will take approximately four to five (4 – 5) hours.

This will be carried out free of charge.

There have been no incidents or injuries reported in Australia as a result of this condition.

For further information, please contact the Toyota recall campaign helpline on 1800 987 366.
